How Digital Marketing Changed the World!

Digital marketing has revolutionised the way businesses reach and engage with potential customers. By harnessing the power of the internet, businesses can connect with more people than ever before, in real-time. Through clever strategies and targeted campaigns, digital marketing has transformed the way we do business. Here’s a look at some of the ways that digital marketing has had a big impact on today’s world.

The Art of Connection

large reach via the internet

The internet has changed the ways in which we interact with one another. It has enabled us to collaborate and make important connections with individuals from any part of the world, faster than ever before. We are no longer bound by physical boundaries, as the internet has enabled unprecedented access to communication and information. It has bridged social inequalities, opened up opportunities for those living in remote parts of the world, and untethered civilization from its geographical boundaries.

This global connectivity can have a powerful impact on the way that we live and work together. The power of connection it enables is instrumental in bringing about a better tomorrow for us all.

This connection makes it possible for businesses to sell their products and services to a much wider audience. Digital Marketing has helped accelerate growth and increase reach much more cost effectively than traditional marketing methods. In our digital world we are able to help our potential customers to find us online through digital marketing methods and tools.

SEO and the advent of search engines means that people can look for the products and services they seek and digital marketing helps businesses offering them to ‘be found’ online. This means that people aren’t restricted to local companies, mail order or the high street. It has opened up a whole new world for businesses of all types.

I like to think of digital marketing as a matchmaking process for those looking for something and those with something to offer. The job of search engines is to match the two sides.

Getting Social

Social media has given people a platform to share their thoughts and experiences

Social media is one stream of digital marketing that has opened up a whole universe of possibilities, allowing us to express ourselves freely and reach out to countless others around the world. It has provided us with a platform to communicate our stories, pass on knowledge, share opinions, and collaborate with each other in ways that were not possible before.

With social media we have the power to construct our own narrative and inspire others with it – whether it’s advocating for a cause, marking an accomplishment, coming together in solidarity over something important, or just sharing a laugh or two. Social media is extraordinary in its capacity to bring distant people together; it has given us the tools to make our voices heard and create conversations that matter.

It’s a great way of adding personality to your business as well as showing your connections a bit more about what you do and how you do it. They say that people buy from people they know, like and trust and social media is a great way of building those relationships.

Websites can sometimes feel quite cold and so teaming a well structured and informative website with a strong social media presence can help your potential customers make decisions about whether to work with you/buy from you or instead go to one of your competitors.

It’s not of course necessary or right for every business to be very active across every social media platform. It’s about understanding where your target audience ‘hang out’ online and making sure that your business is there too.

Email marketing

Email marketing has revolutionised the process of reaching out to potential customers. Not only can businesses tailor their message to specific segmented groups, they have control over timing and frequency. With easy-to-use interfaces like dynamic templates, digital marketers have unprecedented control when it comes to creating eye-catching messages that drive engagement and conversions. Investment in marketing strategies puts businesses miles ahead of the competition, providing high return on investment and invaluable access to new leads. Email marketing is powerful tool for success – with a little know how and powerful message it can be leveraged by any business looking to hit the ground running.

Email marketing has to be permission based to work (and be legal) and whilst it can be a way of getting new customers, for a lot of businesses it’s more about client retention and upselling.

We get so many emails these days that it’s important you aren’t sending them too frequently, but frequently enough that you maintain a relationship with your clients and potential clients.

Don’t send every single email out trying to sell to your list, this will soon turn people away. Instead, think about how you can best add value to them. What content or information can you share with them. Yes, selling is part of it, but don’t make it all that you do. Not only will this lead to a poor email marketing response, it can also impact your reputation as a whole.

SEO and Digital Marketing

reach a bigger audience

Search engine optimization (SEO) technology has revolutionized the way people find what they are looking for online. Imagine researching a topic or product without having to sift through endless pages of irrelevant results – it’s an incredibly empowering feeling to quickly and easily find exactly what you need!

Not only can SEO help people locate the most accurate answers more quickly, it allows businesses to reach their target audience with greater success and precision than ever before possible. SEO is unlocking the hidden potential of internet search, allowing people around the world to reach their goals faster and more effectively.

It’s not easier to have success with SEO, after all for each keyphrase you are competing with hundreds of thousands, if not millions of other results (pages). It takes consistent work and so we would always recommend people outsource to a digital marketing agency like ours, or to a trusted freelancer. It’s not something that you can just teach yourself to do quickly.

Pay-per-click advertising

Pay-per-click advertising leverages search engine algorithms and powerful targeting technologies, companies can now pinpoint the precise audience they want to reach and deliver highly targeted messages at the exact moment of inquiry. It is no exaggeration to say that pay-per-click advertising represents a game changing opportunity for businesses of all sizes, leveling the playing field so that even smaller operations can take advantage of the same marketing capabilities enjoyed by larger organizations. With specialized tools available to maximize efficiency and cost effectiveness, it’s no wonder why so many business have turned to pay-per-click advertising to promote their products and services.

With that said, click costs are increasing year on year (in 2022 it is predicted that they will have increased around 20%) and so whilst it’s an acitivity that every size of business can get involved in the costs can be prohibitive.

One of the main beneifts of PPC is that you can get instant results, the second you start your campaign your business can be shown in the search results. Whilst this is amazing and every business should at least consider if it’s right for them, I do have a word of caution.

PPC only works when you pay for it and you can only attract as much traffic as your budget allows. It should not replace other digital marketing activity, especially SEO, but it is something to run alongside additional marketing streams.

Affiliate marketing

changing the way we work

By leveraging the power of affiliates, companies have been able to reduce costs while amplifying their reach and increasing conversions. This powerhouse strategy has enabled small to large businesses alike to grow quickly, fueling the success of many ventures.

It isn’t something that works for everyone though, so make sure you do your research thoroughly before getting involved. It could actually come across a s a bit spammy if you are overdoing the affiliate links, it can dull down the trust that your audience has in you if you are constantly recommending random products and services, it needs to fit within what you already do and be something that you actually believe in to be really worthwhile.

If however your business is a blog in itself, then you can introduce more affiliate links without it damaging your reputation!

It’s not all cautionary tales though, through efficient performance-based rewards platforms and innovative tracking technology, affiliates have become a key driver of sales for a range of industries including ecommerce, entertainment, technology, and more. It’s no wonder that affiliate marketing is so popular – it delivers great results at a fraction of the cost!
